INGATHERING AND WATER COMMUNION
morning service 11:00 am

Rev. Don Rollins, OUUF Minister

Our Ingathering service, on the Sunday after Labor Day, will be a water communion. Come celebrate the beginning of the church year. Please bring water gathered (physically or symbolically) from wherever you went this summer, and tell us about how you came by it. A story for all ages: "The Ideas Peddler". All are welcome.

WELCOME DON!
A SNAPSHOT OF OUUF
fellowship forum 9:30 am
Ed Vermue, Discussion Leader

Ed will discuss results of both of last spring's surveys, which provide a snapshot of OUUF interests. This in turn informs the Programming Commit- tee for the coming 9 months. Not ev- ery interest can be satisfied every year, but the Committee will try to please the majority, with topical or new material added, and hopes not to repeat more marginal topics that have been covered in the last year or two.

Since the length of the Service is getting shorter to accommodate a longer Coffee (Half-)Hour, we need to discuss how to do that as well.

All are welcome.

UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST RITUAL
morning service 11:00 am
Ed Vermue, Worship Leader

What is the purpose of ritual? Are rituals always ancient? How should rituals make us feel? Is there such a thing as a secular ritual? To what degree is ritual used within the UU setting? Explore these issues and take part in a restorative ritual.

All are welcome.

DAGARA SACRED COSMOLOGY
fellowship forum 9:30 am
Ed Vermue, Discussion Leader

Ed will lead off this forum with a video on the cosmology, concept of the soul, ritual and initiation of the Dagara people of West Africa.

All are welcome.

Sunday, September 22, 2002
A POWERFUL PULPIT
The Rev. Barbara Pescan's
"Only By Your Presence"
morning service 11:00 am
Barbara Fuchsman, Service Leader

Barbara will share experiences this June at the annual UUA General Assem- bly, including video excerpts from the ceremony that Fellowshipped OUUF Sun- day School alumna Beth Marshall as a UU minister. The especially moving sermon by Rev. Pescan showed how work with AIDS patients and with communi- ties abroad transforms us. To help one another we must attend to our similarities and put aside our differences. This reaching out of love counter balances acts of evil.

All are welcome.

ALTERNATIVES TO THE WAR ON DRUGS
fellowship forum 9:30 am
Ed Vermue and Barb Fuchsman
Discussion Leaders

In June 2002, the UUA General Assem- bly passed a Statement of Conscience calling for overhaul of the prohibi- tionistic War on Drugs. We will see a video of a July ABC News Special by telejournalist John Stossel, high- lighting failures of the War on Drugs and successes of alternatives over- seas.

All are welcome.

A SPECIAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING will be held 9/22 at OECC after the Ser- vice. The sole order of business will be: Should OUUF endorse the Ohio ini- tiative preferring treatment over jail for nonviolent drug offenders?
