FEBRUARY 1ST – “ALL THINGS TO ALL PEOPLE” – Cal Frye , HC

February is Black History Month, along with American Heart Month, Library Lovers Month, National Bird Feeding Month, National Condom Month, and many more. The 12th is Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday, and the 14th the birthday of Fredrick Douglas. These two together formed the nucleus of Negro History Week, which expanded into the whole month in the Seventies. February 12th is also Darwin’s birthday, and we’ve celebrated Darwin Day many years. Valentine’s Day was the link for American Heart Month. I don’t know why  February 1 is Change Your Password Day. So many things to celebrate in one short month! The UUA has celebrated the period between Martin Luther King Day and Valentine’s Day as 30 Days of Standing on the Side of Love the past several years, although this year they have other plans. With all the many and varied causes and concerns pulling on our hearts, how can we focus? What is the congregation’s role in this process?
