Our Whole Lives is a series of sexuality education curricula for five age groups: grades K-1, grades 4-6, grades 7-9, grades 10-12, and adults. It was developed by the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA) and the United Church of Christ (UCC). For the 2009-2010 year, the Our Whole Lives (OWL) program for Junior High/High School youth is meeting Sunday evenings at First Church in Oberlin. The program will run through the beginning of December. The program for grades 4-6 will also be offered but the details of location, dates, and times are not yet determined. Facilitators: Facilitators of OWL are trained by staff from the United Church of Christ or the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations. Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives provides not only facts about anatomy and human development, but helps participants to clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality. Questions? Please contact Joanne Rahn, Director of Lifespan Faith Development for the Oberlin UU Fellowship at 440-935-3812 or jrahn@oberlin.net.
