Sunday Service: The Promise and the Practice

January 20, 2019 @ 5:30 am - 6:30 am

Sarah King, L.D. Moore, and Edie Fuchsman

To honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, this service will be based around The Promise and the Practice of Our Faith as developed by the Black Lives Unitarian Universalist (BLUU) Organizing Collective. This service calls us to listen humbly, and perhaps with some discomfort, to lived realities of some Black Unitarian Universalists. These are voices that have not been heard enough but are offered as a sign that we are growing as we work to embrace the presence and gifts of leadership of people of color and to decenter our whiteness. The service includes a video invitation to financially support The Promise and the Practice by the Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray, President of the UUA and by Lena Gardner, Executive Director of the Black Lives Unitarian Universalist Collective.
